  • Copperplate engraving, approx. 3-3/4″ x 4″, of Samuel Adams, (1722-1803), a Founding Father of the United States; Delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress, 1774-1777 and 1779-1781; Governor of MA, 1794-1797.
    Piece affixed to the back, which was originally the caption at the bottom of the engraving, but now just a portion, which reads “[SAM]UEL ADAMS, Esq.,…. [Congr]ess for Massachusetts”,  and “J. Norman Sc.” the name of the engraver (John Norman, 1748-1811, an engraver and publisher in Philadelphia and after c.1780, in Boston).
    A scarce engraving of Samuel Adams published while he was alive.
    A bit trimmed at the sides and at the bottom. Fine.
